Putting my thoughts out after buying two more or less identical Western Star Trucks (just different paint schemes because I wanted two) except for the engine. My first Western Star truck had the DD16 600 and it had somewhat disappointing performance for my first 600HP engine. WebThis is combined with the fact that the X15 is a lower displacement engine (14.9L vs 15.6L of the DD16), which is factored into diesel consumption. Tl;dr Cummins X15 Performance 605 is pretty much better in every way than the DD16 600 in ATS.

Also, the 650hp uses a 4000 series Allison while the 450hp uses the 3000 series Allison which is maxed out by the 450hp, so you can't increase the power of the 450hp without overpowering the tranny.
